Money Exchange

Turkish_Lira_banknoteIt is best to take the currency you have from your country and exchange it for Turkish currency in Turkey beacuse you get better rate inTurkey. Make sure you have your passport with you when you are changing your money for Turkish Lira as other forms of identification may not be accepted. You can exchange your money in any Post Office although there are Change Offices in most big towns and tourist resorts. You will find out that when you are shopping many places will accept your money or exchange for Turkish Lira at a lower rate than usual.

If you have traveller's cheques with you the best place to exchange them for Turkish Lira is in one of the main banks although they are likely to take some money as a commission also most of the hotels will give you Turkish Lira for your traveller's cheque but the rate is generally poor.

Phone Calls

Making calls with a mobile is problem-free in nearly the entire area, but expensive. Those who don't have a mobile or want to save money should buy phone cards and make calls using a card phone. You can telephone from post offices (you will be assigned a booth and pay at the counter when the call is completed), from kiosk or from shops with the sign kontörlü telefon (telephone counter). The country code for UK is 00 44 , for USA 00 1, for Irish Republic 00 353 and followed by the local code (without the initial zero if there is one), then the number.

Water

The tab water is mainly for use not for drinking, it has high mineral contents then you have in your country. It is ok for brushing teeth or using for self cleaning but highly recommended you to purchase bottled water for drinking.

Tipping

From 5% to 15% is customary in the restaurants if it is not included in the total, but it is not expected in the simple lokantas. In restaurants where they have no menus and prices on boards, it is advisable to enquire about the prices before ordering.

A Villa...

A villa was originally an upper-class country house, though since its origins in Roman times the idea and function of a villa has evolved considerably. After the fall of the Republic, a villa became a small, fortified farming compound, gradually re-evolving through the Middle Ages into luxurious, upper-class country homes. wikipedia.org
